For the love of Home Ownership

Easy to say and yes I am happy, actually I am ecstatic that I finally entered the home owner elite. Well it seems that way at the moment even though I know we are no more elite than anyone else. In actual fact nothing has really changed. I have to pay money to someone else every month for the privileged of staying in a house. I do not like where I am going with this. I love my new house, all mine now I need to make it my own. The mortgage and insurance are taken care of and I have my new carpets arriving next week so all is well.

Ideas for Interior Design

By Michael James

Redecorating your house isn't all that simple and it becomes even less so when you are stuck for ideas. The only way to really get over this problem in interior design ideas is to sit back, put your feet up and have some coffee.

I'm not joking, there's no better way of getting a fresh perspective on things than taking a break from what you are doing. In the first place, you become more relaxed, and in the second place a steaming cup of tea or coffee is always welcome.

Now that you're resting comfortably and are suitably relaxed, shut your eyes and create a mental picture of the room that you want to redecorate. Even if you are redecorate more than one room, it's always a good idea to begin with one room first, working your way logically through to the next one and then the next one.

Before you begin your travel through the land of interior design ideas, get yourself a notebook and pencil so that you can write down any good ideas you have before they are forgotten

So, just lie back and imagine the room in your mind. Try to picture it as you want it to look. And if that's too difficult for you, then first try to replace separate parts of your room or articles in it. This is always a good way to start. If you've still got a mental drought on interior design ideas, then leaf through some interior design catalogues beforehand so that you have at least a working idea of what you can do to redecorate the room.

The interior design catalogues need not be anything more impressive than your free local department store catalogue, turned to the home furnishing section. Then again, these days you also get specialist stores which deal only with redecorating. If you have the time, a quick trip down to one of these might also help to end the lack of interior design ideas, and can possibly get you started again.

These stores will have decorated sets of many designs, giving you a good idea of what your room can look like if you buy those materials. However, if you're going to one of those shops, expect to shell out some cash as no matter how hard you try to keep a tight hand on your pocket, you'll always find something you want to buy.

This is not necessarily a bad thing to do, but unless you watch out you could end up buying things you don't need. And without a proper idea of what you want the room to look like, this can prove to be disastrous. Not to worry though, just keep your goal in mind, you can go back home and make a start on redecorating your rooms the way you like.

And now that you've managed to get at least some interior design ideas of what your rooms should look like, your whole redecorating project should be that much easier and that much more fun.
