For the love of Home Ownership

Easy to say and yes I am happy, actually I am ecstatic that I finally entered the home owner elite. Well it seems that way at the moment even though I know we are no more elite than anyone else. In actual fact nothing has really changed. I have to pay money to someone else every month for the privileged of staying in a house. I do not like where I am going with this. I love my new house, all mine now I need to make it my own. The mortgage and insurance are taken care of and I have my new carpets arriving next week so all is well.

4 Great Tips for Lawn Water Conservation

By Tim McNeal

With the hot summer months fast approaching it's time to talk a little bit about water conservation. The fact is that you can still have a green lawn and not waste a ton of extra water. Too many of us waste extra water each summer, so let's go over a few tips you can use to avoid this common problem.

#1 - Fix Broken Sprinklers

While I'm sure the kids love it, those broken sprinkler heads that shoot 30 feet into the air are a huge water waster. As soon as you know you have a broken sprinkler get a replacement part and get it fixed. Thankfully they're pretty cheap.

#2 - Water Your Lawn in the Morning

The most optimal time to water your lawn is in the morning. Watering in the afternoon is no good because you'll just lose a lot of water to evaporation. If you water in the evening you'll have fungus problems because your lawn will stay wet too long. So shoot for between the hours of 5 and 10 am.

#3 - Water Infrequently

If you water too regularly your lawn with have a very shallow root system. If you actually let it go into drought mode a little bit now and then your lawn will grow deeper roots and be stronger for it.

#4 - Let Rain Do Its Thing

How many times have you seen someone watering their lawn when it's raining? Talk about wasting water! If it rains consider that your lawn watering for the week. Don't worry about your regular schedule, just let the rain do what it's going to do.

The summer months are great for a lot of things, and one of them is nice green lawns. But thankfully you can have a great looking lawn without over watering or in other ways wasting water. I hope these tips help you to have a great looking lawn for less!
